logitech mx master 3 scroll wheel noise
It's just making that noise because it doesn't go to free spin mode and it just scrolls in ratchet mode. This must be addressed through a software update and hopefully not a hardware issue. I got a MX Master 3 in gray at release.
I've recently bought the MX Master 3 and noticed that the horizontal scrollwheel has constant issues with not registering — sometimes I'm in an app that scrolled horizontally just fine a minute ago, but doesn't do anything the next. Pity, because everything else is fantastic with this mouse.
Is this a known issue? I've now ordered a new one but the noise on that one is even worse. Around 5% of the time, the scroll is not responding it's like "catching up".

Maybe I'll try uninstalling options because it works less then 70% of the time for me. I have exactly the same too. It's probably a hardware thing, I think it has to do with the way the electromagnetic scrollwheel detects ticks, but I can't imagine they can't finetune that at least a little bit with a patch. It would work in some programs though, like the explorer of Windows, but in no Browser for example. Thanks! I'm having the same issue.
I've noticed something as well, try this, lift the mouse off its surface and immediately after, scroll the wheel, it lags for milliseconds before it picks up reception. And it more occurs when I scroll the wheel slowly. And while talking about Options software, I should mention that I also had input delay issues when using Smooth Scrolling — sometimes I needed to scroll a bit for it to kick in and start actually scrolling. I downloaded older software about 30 minutes ago and issue has not appeared since then. I only see Smooth Scrolling? Reminds me a bit of the first MX Master. I also noticed it has something to do with speed; very quickly scrolling up and down will 100% result in some missed lines, but pausing half a second between every scroll seems to work better. Soon as that smooth scrolling option is turned off it works fine.
Looks like you're using new Reddit on an old browser.
I ran into an issue where scrolling will not work for roughly half a second immediately after I pick up the mouse or place it back down. The issue is with the way scroll-wheel functions. Lifting the mouse and scrolling it doesn't register for about half a second. Just configure sensitivity.
I am using the mouse with a Unifying receiver which currently does not have any other devices paired. So, I will now go ahead and create a new ticket for you.The team will review your case and will be in touch via email as soon as possible. I think I have found a workaround within Logitech Options: Select the thumb wheel from the diagram. Same here with a brand new MX Master 3.
Would love to know. Doubt that it can be fixed with a firmware update. Maybe you can use the utility to sync with the same receiver to fix it. Press J to jump to the feed. There's a video on YouTube about it.
Is it worth it to try to get a replacement MX master 3 or should i return it? Are you also experiencing the same issue?I'm currently contemplating whether I should keep the first one or not because I absolutely love the mouse besides that one annoying issue... i guess i saw a couple of reports on this issue . I quite like the mouse, but since my original MX Master works flawlessly I was planning on returning it if there are no answers from Logitech. It's not constantly and not possible to reproduce it. I also have multiple 2S and they don't have this. I switched to MX Master 3 from MX Master 2S which doesn't have this problem. Regards,Jennifer. Too annoying to ignore! I will get a new one and the current should be recycled. But generally it's not a problem, just how they implemented the new wheel. Just got the MX Master 3 and I tend to play games that require me to actively scroll while moving the mouse around. I had Logitech Options software installed, but that made it way worse. I am having exactly the same experience. Then when you place the mouse down flat, it lags again and picks up scroll response.
After fighting with Logitech's horrible support for a few weeks and enabling PayPal I finally got the confirmation that I can return the mouse for a full refund. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. Shame because I love everything else about it! I've noticed this happens 100% of the time if I've recently lifted the mouse off the table. Immediately noticed scroll issues. I think I'm having a similar issue with the MX Master 3.
I was having this issue with my MX Master 1 (no scroll for about 1 second after lifting the mouse off a table), disabling this in the logitech app fixed it. The one stop for anything regarding computer mice! We'd love to keep the conversation going directly with the Support Team. Same thing here. You did however resolve my major concern with the scroll wheel - whenever a new window would pop out of my browser, there was a 1-2 second hesitation before being able to scroll. In my job I rely heavily on Excel spreadsheets and the horizontal scroll is what convinced me to upgrade from a Performance MX mouse. And a few minutes later, it happens again.
Hopefully on their next version it will be fixed . Could this really be software related?
I'm on the verge of buying this mouse as of right now I have a G703 with a faulty scroll wheel that I can't stand anymore. The freewheeling is super handy for some 3D software I use, but fine and quick adjustments are just too unreliable now. It works for me albeit not terribly smoothly but it works and reliably. The MX master 2 - indeed every scroll wheel mouse I've ever used - never had a lag at all. Yep - having exactly the same problem. Cookies help us deliver our Services. Yeah, i have the same problem. +1 having the same problem. Lag occurs intermittently. If i scroll down (or scroll up too.) Sometimes it feels like this mouse just picks up on small quirks in my finger's motion that other mice can't... Is it simply TOO accurate? I can send a video of it, if necessary. Do not hesitate to let us know if you have any questions as the team follows up or in the meantime as the conversation continues there. If I lift the mouse from the table and scroll while holding it in the air, it works fine... Maby a "battery save feature" thats bugged? I bought this mouse today and I have the same problem.
It seems to be some type of delay going on, not sure if the mouse is taking time to recognize if it is on a surface or not and that is causing the delay. If this post makes some traction hopefully we can get logitech on it.
