A National Research Council study committee examined evidence on the effectiveness of the full range of incentives programs, including those that sanction schools whose students do not perform well on standardized tests, those that award bonuses to teachers if their students’ test scores climb, and those that target the incentives to students themselves by requiring them to pass an exit exam before receiving their diploma.
She is currently a Psychological Sciences Masters student in hopes to ultimately pursue a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. Application information is posted in late-spring.
The ALEKS Assessment is offered by the ALEKS corporation, an educational knowledge and assessment research company. On March 30th 2017, the UTD Math team ws ranked 2nd out of 28 teams at the “Calculus bowl contest” during the 97th annual meeting of the Texas section of the MAA. In her free time, Jyothika loves exploring new restaurants, going to concerts, and reading.
At Elon, Kaitlin assisted in research investigating young children’s learning of math and science and how parents contribute to that process. SME faculty and alumni provide dozens of workshops for teachers every year. She aspires to undertake a career in Clinical Psychology or Neuropsychology as well as earning a PhD and teaching at a University. RESEARCH INTERESTS Our research has interdisciplinary applications to problems in bio-medicine, engineering, and the sciences. Our mission is accomplished through a mixture of academic programs that include teacher preparation and enhancement, high-quality content-rich professional development for teachers and educational leaders, educational outreach, partnerships within UT Dallas and the broader educational community, and active research and creative activity in STEM and STEM teaching and learning.

She loves spending time with children and observing how their curiosity leads them to learn from their environment. Her current research interests include how children ask questions in order to learn new information as well as individual and cultural differences in children’s inquiry abilities.
